Live Art and Feminism in the UK – Online Exhibition

LADA has partnered with the Google Cultural Institute to create an online exhibition on Live Art and Feminism in the UK. Curated by LADA in collaboration with Eleanor Roberts (Queen Mary, University of London), the exhibition offers a snapshot of some of the key figures and issues of Live Art and Feminism in the UK since 1970.

The online exhibition features contributions from Anne Bean, Bobby Baker, Carlyle Reedy, Curious (Leslie Hill and Helen Paris), David Hoyle, Geraldine Pilgrim, Hayley Newman, Helena Hunter, Helena Walsh, Katherine Araniello, Lauren Barri Holstein, Lois Weaver, Peggy Shaw, Lucy Hutson, Marcia Farquhar, Marisa Carnesky, Mona Hatoum, Monica Ross, Noëmi Lakmaeir, Oreet Ashery, Phoebe Davies, Poppy Jackson, Project O, Rose English, Silvia Ziranek, Speaking of IMELDA, Stacy Makishi and Tania El Khoury.

The online exhibition is part of LADA’s Restock, Rethink, Reflect Three, a project mapping and marking the impact of performance on feminist histories and highlighting the contribution of artists to discourses around contemporary gender politics.

Founded in 2011, the Google Cultural Institute is a not-for-profit initiative that partners with cultural organisations to bring the world’s cultural heritage online. They build free tools and technologies for the cultural sector to showcase and share work, making them more widely accessible to a global audience.

In December 2015 Google Cultural Institute launched a major project looking at the Performing Arts very broadly and with an international scope, asking how they might be represented on the Cultural Institute. LADA’s exhibition Live Art and Feminism in the UK is included in the Performance Art section.
