A Good Love Story

Please join us for an online launch of A Good Love Story at 6pm on Valentine’s Day, 14 February 2021 with Sibylle Peters and special guests.

In February 2020, right before the first lockdown, the German artist, researcher and long-time LADA collaborator Sibylle Peters, devised Queens. The Heteraclub, a temporary night club in Hamburg which offered intimate one-on-one-performances to women who desire men. When Covid hit, Sibylle went from being ‘the first female pimp of St. Pauli’s Red Light District’ and hugging sixty people a day, into isolation.

This is when you need a good love story. As she couldn’t find any, she wrote one herself.

This story is a product of lockdown, of not being able to create gatherings and experiences with, and for, other people. It is an account of intensely personal histories and experiences, that usually stay behind the screens. It is also a document of the Heteraclub project and the safe space created there, in which hundreds of women shared their stories of love and pleasure.

A good love story shouldn’t have too many words. This one gets to the point as directly as possible. It turns “me too” into sex-positive empowerment and dark comedy, whilst talking about contemporary Live Art, genderfluidity, online dating, polyamory and its pitfalls. It is a feminist celebration of love and the attempt to escape from sexism, ageism and racism by pitching them all against each other and leaving the party with the sweetest guy of all.
