DIY 7: 2010 – Call for Participants
A 3-day intensive workshop where we will play, rewind and hear with delay sounds from Newcastle and cities far away.
THIS DIY PROJECT IS NOW FULL
Project Summary:
This project will focus on the subjective perception of reality through sound, reframing everyday life details and rebooting the clichés of one’s sound apparatus.
It is designed as a series of five field sessions where the participants will experience daily realities through a range of hearing alteration devices, as well as gather a personal audio archive. Each session will be followed by a workshop where participants’ fresh impressions will be creatively explored and discussed.
The participants will also have the opportunity to use their personal archives and create site specific sonic journeys.
Dates: from the 6th till the 8th of August
Times: 10am till 5pm
Location: Newcastle
Application Procedure:
Number of participants: 9
This workshop is addressed to artists who are curious about the sonic aspects of everyday life and their use in a live art context.
If you wish to attend the workshop, please email [email protected] with your biog and a web link to your work (if available) together with a brief answer to the following: remember the sounds you’ve heard today and select 5 of them, thinking of how you could creatively use them. Deadline: Friday 16 July 2010.
