One To One Individual Artists’ Bursaries in Live Art
- Year
- 1999
The One To One Individual Artists' Bursary Scheme was set up in 1999 to provide artistic and professional development opportunities for individual practitioners based in London who work in Live Art. The bursaries were instigated by London Arts and were managed by the Live Art Development Agency with funding from Arts Council England (London office).
One To One bursaries were awarded to artists to undertake self determined artistic and professional development strategies that would stimulate new processes, support different ways of working and ultimately enhance their artistic practice.
In 2005 Arts Council England, London announced that they were no longer able to support the scheme through Managed Funds, and 2005/06 was the final year of the One To One Bursary scheme. However many of the principles and approaches of the scheme continue to inform the Agency's professional development work and we are currently developing new models of support for senior practitioners.
In its seven years the One to One Scheme offered bursaries to 52 artists and was instrumental in enhancing and furthering their practices in significant ways. Many of those artists have written short statements on how the bursary impacted on their work that may be of interest to artists wishing to undertake their own artistic development programmes, or facilitators interested in looking at new models of professional development. Artists' statements can be read here.
