Open Call for LADA Screens: voice, care and healing

LADA is thrilled to bring back LADA Screens, our screening programme of seminal performance documentation, works for camera, short films/video and archival footage.

We are inviting proposals for four existing films or videos to run from January to April 2024. Each film/video will be available to view for a month at LADA’s Live Online video channel and will be launched with a live event at our space in Bethnal Green. This open call is centred around the themes of voice, care and healing.

The artists are invited to propose the format for the live event. This may involve a talk or discussion, a performative event or provocation, or the screening of a companion film selected either from LADA’s Study Room or from another source of their choosing.

We are interested in:

  • Profiling work by artists who have existing moving image material that has emanated from, or is closely connected to, their Live Art/performance practice
  • Profiling artists whose practice is underrepresented in mainstream spaces and contexts within art and performance
  • Films or videos that will work well for an online screening context.

A copy of the films/videos will be included in LADA’s Study Room after the completion of the online screenings so that they can be accessed for research purposes.

If you have any questions about this open call, please email Tania Camara.

Further Information

This is not a commission for new work, and we do not expect artists to make new material especially for this opportunity. However, we recognise that there may be some editing and contextualisation needed in order to present the work for LADA Screens.

There is a prescribed length for the films and videos we show as part of LADA Screens; we generally present materials that are between 10 and 30 minutes long. If your work is of a substantially different duration, please offer some explanation about this in your application.

About LADA Screens

LADA Screens is a series of free, online screenings of seminal performance documentation, works to camera, short films/video and archival footage. It is part of Live Online, LADA’s dedicated space where you can watch short videos and films drawn from LADA’s Study Room or generated through our programmes and initiatives.

Each screening is available to view for a limited time only.
