LADA is delighted to mark the publication of two new titles by Daniel Oliver.
Awkwoods: Daniel Oliver’s Dyspraxic Adventures in Participatory Performance is the first book on the work of Daniel Oliver. Daniel is dyspraxic and he creates awkward participatory performance worlds. He has done so since 2003. This book documents some of those worlds, as well as bringing together critical and creative responses by Aby Watson, Jo Hauge, Luke Ferris, O. Husch, Chloe Spicer, Hamja Ahsan and Nwando Ebizie. These writings focus on discussing, embracing, and celebrating dyspraxic approaches to performance making, socialising, world-building, thinking and writing. It is especially for everyone except of course for those who choose to identify as ‘everyone’ rather than someone else – but it will be great for anyone who, for example, is invested in dyspraxia, neurodiversity, Live Art, Audience Participation, World-Building, and sentences like this one. Awkwoods is published by the Live Art Development Agency.
Awkoods is available on Unbound and will be on sale at a specially discounted price at the launch.
On Neurodiversity is a new Study Room Guide by Daniel Oliver. It contains a collection of recorded conversations with neurodivergent artists working in Live Art and performance, a list of resources relating to this field and a contextualising essay by Daniel.
Reading by Luke Ferris, live music and Q&A by IndoorGoblin / Sumita Unjumbled.
Drinks and refreshments will be served.
LADA is wheelchair accessible and provides gender-inclusive bathrooms.
Daniel will also be hosting a long table discussion at Queen Mary University, for more details click here.
