On Saturday 1 June, LADA, in partnerhsip with the Drama Department at Queen Mary University of London, presented Live Art Now, a day of discussions around kickstarting and maintaining a Live Art practice. The event featured a series of conversations between practitioners and producers, followed by a presentation by Dominic Johson, Daniel Oliver and Lois Keidan on the MA Live Art programme (co-facilitated by LADA and QMUL). Finally the artist Brian Catling delivered a guest lecture: FICTIONAL EVIDENCE,The art of performing imagined crimes. There were also opportunities to see performance works by current MA Live Art students.
Claire Nolan documented the event and her videos are available on Live Online and below.
Artists Lois Weaver and Martin O’Brien discussed sustaining a practice and Franko B and Nando Messias discussed documenting, critical writing, and archiving.
Producers Phoebe Patey-Ferguson and Jen Smethurst were in conversation about networking and connecting, and artists/curators/arts-workers Joseph Morgan Schofield and Jordan McKenzie discussed the artist as… (artist as curator, artist as researcher, artist as activist, artist as curator, artist as day-jobber).
Lois Keidan, Daniel Oliver and Dominic Johson gave a presentation introducing the MA Live Art.
Brian Catling delivered the keynote lecture, entitled: FICTIONAL EVIDENCE, The art of performing imagined crimes.
