FRESH AiR Platform 2010 – Call for Artist’s Proposals

THE FRESH AiR LIVE ART PLATFORM TO BE HELD ON SATURDAY 5 JUNE 2010

FRESH AiR is a brand new initiative from Queen Mary, University of London offering recent Live Art graduates and emergent artists in London support, advice and professional development.

FRESH AiR is part of Queen Mary’s wider Artists in Residence (AiR) project – an in-house initiative to sustain established Live Art practitioners, support emerging artists, and invest in the spaces that nurture their work and audiences.

FRESH AiR will feature an open submissions performance platform, mentoring and critical feedback for programmed artists, and FRESH TIPS – a day of information and advice from experienced artists, and one to one advisory sessions.

FRESH AiR builds on East End Collaborations (EEC), which ran from 1999 to 2009, and will be produced in collaboration with the Live Art Development Agency.

The FRESH AiR PLATFORM is aimed at artists who are at the beginning of their practice and have made at least one professionally presented piece of Live Art. It is an opportunity for artists to introduce their practice to audiences, peers, and promoters, to work with a mentor, and to participate in a feedback and networking session on Sunday 6 June where there will be practical advice and critical responses over brunch from artists, curators, and performance students and scholars from Queen Mary.

The FRESH AiR PLATFORM will take place in a range of spaces at Queen Mary, University of London. Artists will be selected on an open submission basis from their written applications by a small team of lecturers and Associate Artists from Queen Mary, and the Live Art Development Agency.

Artists wishing to present their work in the FRESH AiR PLATFORM should submit a written proposal with a completed application form by 30 April 2010 at the very latest.
