Passionate Amateurs argues that theatre in modern capitalism can help us think afresh about notions of work, time, and freedom. Its title concept is a theoretical and historical figure, someone whose work in theatre is undertaken within capitalism, but motivated by a love that desires something different.

Ana Mendieta. She Got Love gathers over 130 works by this Cuban-American artist, created between 1972 and 1985 and chosen from among the most significant in the prolific production of her brief life.

This film chronicles the life and work of pioneering musician and performance artist Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, starting with Throbbing Gristle in the 1970s to the still very active cult favourite Psychic TV, and how h/er chance encounter with a dominatrix/performance artist in New York called Lady Jaye brought about a singular and enduring artistic collaboration and a brazen partnership that defied all the perceptions of love.

This third themed year of the Performance Matters project features a vibrant series of commissions exploring and exploding the dialogue as a potential format for thinking through and testing possible futures.
