Everyone is welcome to the launch of the ‘On the Maternal’ issue of Performance Research journal, edited by Lena Šimić and Emily Underwood-Lee.
The issue builds on ‘Live Art and Motherhood: Study Room Guide on Live Art and the Maternal’ which Emily and Lena co-authored and co-edited in 2016.
This edition represents a significant moment for bringing maternal voices into the realm of performance and live art studies.
The launch will involve a performance of ‘Manifesto for Maternal Performance (Art) 2016!’ and an open discussion. Drinks will be served.
The issue includes contributions from:
Ana Álvarez-Errecalde, Madaleine Trigg, Lisa Baraitser, Paula Chambers, Arne Vanraes, Ildikó Rippel and Rosie Garton, Dominic Paterson, Sophie Lally, Natasha Davis, EL Putnam, Jesicca N. Pabón-Colón, Annie Wong, Angelina Lucento, Liberate Tate, Megan Marsh-McGlone, Angela Sweigart-Gallagher, Ananda Breed, Bryoni Trezise, Rachel Cockburn and Andrea Liss as well as the ‘Manifesto for Maternal Performance (Art) 2016!’ by Emily Underwood-Lee and Lena Šimić.
Emily Underwood-Lee is a Research Fellow at the George Ewart Evans Centre for Storytelling at the University of South Wales.
Lena Šimić is Reader in Drama at Edge Hill University and a co-organizer of the Institute for the Art and Practice of Dissent at Home.
