DIY: 2014 – Madeleine Botet de Lacaze ‘ASTROLOGY FOR ARTISTS’

An exploration on the amount of Fire, Water, Earth and Air you have within yourself.

Project summary:
Participants will experience their element balance combination, meaning the amount of Fire, Water, Earth and Air shown on their own astrological Natal Chart. Understanding how it relates to the way we express, act, think, feel but, most importantly, the way we search, get inspired and create work, as the four elements are the energies of life and creativity.

This workshop is about getting inspired by knowing more about oneself. I want to propose an encounter to experience our personal creative processes from a different and unusual perspective. I’m interested in opening up a space and time to reflect upon these topics, to relate with each other through creative thinking, unusual body exercises, visualizations and astrological understanding.

Sharing how we perceive our environment and our creative life in relation to how strong, weak or lacking each of the four elements are in us, will be a creative experience.

Every participant will need to send the day, month, year and place (country and city) of their birth and the exact hour in which they were born. In return I will bring to the workshop each participant’s Astrological Natal Chart, which shows how the sky was at the exact moment of their birth and I will also give them their element balance combination.

Dates, times and location(s):
Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 October 2014. 10am to 5pm both days.

We will also go for a night walk at the Park on Saturday night.
Yorkshire Sculpture Park, West Bretton, Wakefield, WF4 4LG

The artist:

Madeleine is an Argentinean-born artist who lives and works in London. Her practice focuses on the body’s relationship to identity, belonging and presence, creating intimate interdisciplinary performances which question our perception of corporality. Her background was in film and photography until she came to London to complete a Masters in Performance Art. Since then her practice has developed as she began performing, thus unifying all her interests. During her life she traveled widely, encountering different cultures and alternative thinking by developing relationships with astrologers, shamans and people with spiritual interests who have been a strong inspiration and guidance for her ongoing artistic research. She studied Astrology in Buenos Aires for more than 5 years and she is currently finishing her studies at the Faculty of Astrological Studies in London. She has presented work at SPILL Festival of Performance, at the Latin American Theatre Festival in London and Perfomatorium in Canada.
