Live Art and Gaming Network: Expression of Interest
Do you create, play, or experiment with games? Are you interested in exploring different forms and possibilities at the intersections of Live Art and gaming?
As an Artist in Residence with LADA, Symoné is seeking curious and engaged creatives to join a network exploring experimental approaches to gaming, digital art and live interdisciplinary performance.
Symoné is currently developing three mixed-reality experiences combining theatre, live gaming, and immersive digital elements. The idea to bring together diverse perspectives on Live Art and game mechanics came from a desire to broaden this research, inspired by a generative Study Room Gathering event in November 2024.
Whether you’re a game-maker, performer, or researcher, this is an opportunity to share skills, ideas and experiences with other practitioners, through group outings, discussions and play.
Timeline
Wednesday 26 March, March, 11.59pm : Expression of interest closes
Tuesday 1 April: Network members confirmed
Sunday 13 April: Collective play date to asses.masses, at Battersea Arts Centre (London)
asses.masses is a custom video game designed to be played from beginning to end by a live audience, over 7+ hours. LADA will subsidise network members’ tickets, so tickets are £5
April – June: 2-3 Virtual meetings. Regularity and schedule to be decided by the group
Saturday 20 June: Game Jam & Social @ LADA. A game jam is an event where people work together to create a video game in a short time frame (in this case, over a weekend).
Sunday 21 June: Game Jam & Social @ LADA
Ongoing: WhatsApp group, usage/frequency to be decided by the group

Selection Criteria
We’re looking for participants who feel passionately about engaging with and expanding the context of gaming – whether critically, creatively, or playfully. This is a network for those interested in games, but you do not have to be a ‘gamer’.
We are looking for expressions of interest from creatives who:
- are available for all of the listed dates of activity
- are interested in dialogue and skills-exchange
- are interested in Live Art and/or interdisciplinary performance practices
- have experience creating or previous thinking about games or the intersection of games and arts/culture.
Please note: The activities take place in London and there is no travel and accommodation budget for participants.
In collaboration with LADA staff, Symoné will select 10 members for the network. We aim to let everyone know a decision by Tuesday 1st April at the latest.
How do I apply?
Please complete the Expression of Interest and equal opportunities form.
We are also happy to receive video or audio expressions of interest; to do this, please answer the questions listed in the form and send the audio or video file to willy@thisisliveart.co.uk. Please keep either version to under 5 minutes long.
If you need the Expression of Interest in any other format, or have any questions please email us.
