Stock Check: Expression of Interest
- Year
- 2025
- Application deadline
Tuesday 6 May, 11.59pm
Successful applicants will be notified by Thursday 22 May
LADA and Artist in Residence Claudia Palazzo invite proposals for a new, peer-to-peer development group for artists working within Live Art and interdisciplinary performance practice.
Claudia has been looking for ways to share practice and build community with other artists, particularly those working across different disciplines. Stock Check will dedicate some time, space and hospitality to the process of chewing over work and ideas together and make room for low-stakes exploration and experimentation.
Stock Check will offer a warm and intimate environment for testing and sharing with a small community of peers. Over five gatherings, Claudia and the LADA team will host the group with homemade soup and beverages. We will eat, watch, listen and talk together within a framework of mutual curiosity and respect.
Format
Seven artists will be selected to join Claudia at five evening gatherings from June to October, at the Garrett Centre in Bethnal Green. Gatherings will be co-facilitated by Claudia and LADA staff, with two artists per evening sharing something they are working on with the group in any way they see fit, followed by dialogue around the work and process. The group will have the chance to meet during a mixer event ahead of the gatherings.
Timeline
Wednesday 18 June, 7pm: Mixer
Wednesday 9 July, 7pm: Gathering 1
Wednesday 13 August, 7pm: Gathering 2
Wednesday 17 September, 7 pm: Gathering 3
Wednesday 22 October, 7pm: Gathering 4

Terms of joining the group
- Present work at one of the gatherings
- Engage and connect with the work and process of the other artists in a supportive and constructive environment
- 2 x mentoring sessions with LADA Director focused on professional development
- Profile on a dedicated Stock Check webpage
At the end of the process, LADA will pay artists £50 to complete a short evaluation through a feedback form.
Selection Criteria
We’re looking for artists committed to liveness in their work who are interested in developing new peer networks and exploring work with a group, whether that’s trying something new or sharing an ongoing practice.
This opportunity is open to:
- Artists working within the multiplicities of Live Art and interdisciplinary performance practice. This includes artists working at the intersections and edges of performance art, theatre, dance, embodied practice, film and video, socially engaged practice and live performance for video/digital contexts.
- Solo artists
- Artists who are available for the listed dates of activity. We acknowledge that plans and commitments might change over the period, but we will aim for full attendance at each gathering.
- Please note: The activities will take place in London and there is no travel and accommodation budget.
Seven artists of different career stages will be selected by Claudia Palazzo and LADA staff. The criteria for selection will be based on ensuring the diversity of ideas, practices and backgrounds, and will take into account the timeliness of joining a peer network at this time.
We aim to let everyone know a decision by Thursday 22 May.
How do I apply?
Please complete the Expression of Interest and the Equal Opportunities Form.
We are happy to receive video or audio applications. To do this, please answer the questions listed in the above forms and send the audio or video file to willy@thisisliveart.co.uk. Please try to keep either version to 5 minutes or less.
If you need the forms in any other format, or have any questions please email us.
Access Information
- The Garrett Centre is a relatively low-tech space. We will have microphones, speakers, sound playback, a large TV screen and a laptop available for the sharings.
- The sharings will be different each time, and the group will communicate with each other about content ahead of each gathering.
- Various seating options will be available including fold-out chairs, office chairs, a sofa and a bench.
- All soups served in the gatherings will be vegetarian; we will gather dietary restrictions ahead of the first event.
- Microphone amplification might be used.
- Group members are welcome to attend with a personal assistant, care worker or support worker. Please let us know in advance.
- A LADA staff member will be operating in a basic access support role. They will be there to help with physical tasks (i.e. if you need someone to carry your bag, move tables or chairs) and have hand sanitiser, face masks, noise-canceling headphones, fidget/stim toys and foam earplugs available for you to request.
About our Space:
- The Garrett Centre is wheelchair accessible by lift and provides a wheelchair accessible ground-floor bathroom.
- All bathrooms are gender inclusive.
- LADA has an open plan layout and high ceilings. This means that noise and reverberation can feel amplified and echoey, particularly when the space is crowded. We have ear defenders and foam earplugs on site.
- There is no isolated quiet space inside, but there is a small quiet outdoor area.
- There are disposable masks and hand sanitiser available.
- You can find more information and see photos of the space here. If you would like to talk to us about access, please email us and we will be happy to offer further support.
